All measurements in inches (1 in = 2.54 cm). Coat length is measured from the collar seam down the back. Vest front length runs from the shoulder seam to the front point; back length from the collar seam to the bottom hem. Between two sizes? Choose the larger size, or select Custom to have it made to your exact measurements.

How custom sizing works

Your suit will be sewn exactly to the measurements you enter. Our tailors may make minor adjustments if something looks inconsistent.

If there is an issue with the finished suit, email support@valenfold.com with photos of the garment and a measuring tape showing the areas that are not right. If the issue is on our side, we will find the best possible solution. If the suit matches your measurements, the responsibility lies with the customer.

Tip: ask a friend to help you. Wear a thin shirt, stand straight and relax. Follow the picture for each measurement.

Coat, vest & shirt
FRONT VIEW START TAPE GOES ALL THE WAY ROUND
  1. Stand straight and relax your arms.
  2. Put the tape under your armpits, around the widest part of your chest.
  3. Keep the tape flat and level all the way round, then read the number.
BACK VIEW START
  1. This is measured on your BACK, so ask someone to help.
  2. Start at the bony tip of your left shoulder (green dot).
  3. Lay the tape straight across your upper back to the tip of your right shoulder.
FRONT VIEW START
  1. Let your arm hang down with the elbow slightly bent.
  2. Start at the bony tip of your shoulder (green dot).
  3. Go down the outside of your arm to your wrist bone.

  1. Wrap the tape around the bottom of your neck, where a shirt collar sits.
  2. Slide one finger under the tape so it is not tight.
  3. Read the number.
FRONT VIEW START TAPE GOES ALL THE WAY ROUND
  1. Relax your arm.
  2. Wrap the tape around the thickest part of your upper arm.
  3. Read the number.
FRONT VIEW START TAPE GOES ALL THE WAY ROUND
  1. Wrap the tape around your wrist, just over the wrist bone.
  2. Read the number.
BACK VIEW END: where coat should finish START
  1. This is measured on your BACK, so ask someone to help.
  2. Start at the bottom of your collar (green dot).
  3. Go straight down your back to where you want the coat to end.
FRONT VIEW START TAPE GOES ALL THE WAY ROUND
  1. Stand normally and do not pull your tummy in.
  2. Wrap the tape around the biggest part of your belly.
  3. Keep it level and read the number.
Trousers
FRONT VIEW START TAPE GOES ALL THE WAY ROUND
  1. Find your belly button.
  2. Wrap the tape around your body just above it.
  3. Keep the tape level, breathe out normally and read the number.
FRONT VIEW START TAPE GOES ALL THE WAY ROUND
  1. Stand with your feet together.
  2. Wrap the tape around the biggest part of your bottom (seat).
  3. Keep it level and read the number.
FRONT VIEW then between legs to the back START
  1. Start at the top of your trousers at the front (green dot).
  2. Go down between your legs.
  3. Come up to the top of your trousers at the back. The total is your rise.
FRONT VIEW START TAPE GOES ALL THE WAY ROUND
  1. Stand with your legs slightly apart.
  2. Wrap the tape around the thickest part of one leg, just below the crotch.
  3. Read the number.
FRONT VIEW START TAPE GOES ALL THE WAY ROUND
  1. Stand straight.
  2. Wrap the tape around the middle of your knee.
  3. Read the number.
FRONT VIEW START TAPE GOES ALL THE WAY ROUND
  1. Find the round bone on the side of your ankle.
  2. Wrap the tape around your ankle over that bone.
  3. This sets how wide the trouser bottom will be.
FRONT VIEW START
  1. Take your shoes off and stand straight.
  2. Start at the top of the inside of your leg (green dot).
  3. Go straight down the inside of your leg to your ankle bone.
FRONT VIEW START
  1. Start at the side of your waist where the trousers sit (green dot).
  2. Go straight down the outside of your leg.
  3. Stop where the trousers should end, usually at the ankle bone.

FRONT VIEW NO SHOES · STAND STRAIGHT START
  1. Take your shoes off and stand with your back against a wall.
  2. Put a flat book on top of your head, touching the wall.
  3. Measure from the floor up to the book.
